Miszli Private Dining
Culinary Experience
A small workshop where great things are created…
Villány Wine Region, Vokány
Dear Guests!
Welcome to the Miszli Private Dining website!
We hope to welcome you personally very soon, here in Vokány, at our private dining restaurant run by Juliska and Szabolcs.
With a constantly changing Miszli market menu and a wide range of handcrafted delicacies, we invite our guests to the Villány wine region, on the northern side of the Tenkes hills.
The Restaurant
It would be difficult to weave the many different paths that led to the beginning of our restaurant into a single thread,
as this would require recounting more than thirty years of professional experience.
After working in restaurants and hotels in Germany and Austria, we also gained experience in several well-known restaurants in Hungary.
The idea of having our own restaurant was present from the very beginning, but only gradually did it become clear that we wanted to create something truly personal, something heartfelt.
We allowed life to guide us, and eventually found this charming Swabian house built in 1910 here in Vokány, whose every corner could be shaped according to our vision.
At first, it became our home, then the birthplace of our two sons.
Later, it made room for a small farm, a curing room for smoked meats, a cheese workshop, and finally the private dining restaurant created from the former stable.
In the old pigsty, we opened a small shop offering products from local producers, called
Kamrácska.
In the air-conditioned stable and along the approximately 80-metre-long veranda, guests can take their seats at tables set among atmospheric Swabian furnishings and everyday objects.
On our Fröccslemente terrace, the sunset can be enjoyed at a table made from a restored old horse-drawn sleigh.
Miszli
The name Miszli is a family “heritage”.
This was the name of the summer kitchen of Szabolcs’s maternal grandmother in Tárkány.
The word itself refers to something small, finely chopped — and indeed, the building was small.
Yet what was created there was filled with great care and fresh ingredients from the family garden, the poultry yard, the pigsties and the vineyard.
The carefully prepared meals were shared together under the arbor.
Throughout the year, this small building was the centre of providing food for the family.
It was here that Szabolcs learned the fundamentals of kitchen work, and these flavours have accompanied and shaped his cooking ever since.
Since our opening in February 2020, we have continuously developed our restaurant so that, alongside our special dishes, the atmosphere may become ever more complete.
Juliska is the heart of the house: during the week she takes care of our animals, the garden and the property, while on weekends she looks after our guests and prepares the desserts.
Szabolcs is responsible for the kitchen — working as a culinary instructor on weekdays, and cooking in the Miszli kitchen on weekends.
We tend our own garden, our eggs come from our own hens, and dairy products are provided by our
cheese workshop.
Many of the ingredients we cook with can be found in the surrounding area.
We believe that the flavours of Baranya can be most authentically expressed through dishes prepared from local ingredients.
Weekly Specials
The impressive weekly specialties of our private dining restaurant invite you to fully explore the world of flavours.
Culinary highlights, traditional dishes and fine delicacies designed to satisfy even the most discerning tastes.
We warmly welcome everyone, however we would like to kindly note that
advance reservation by phone
is essential in order to welcome both new and returning guests smoothly.
For the atmosphere and balanced operation of our private dining restaurant, prior reservation is very important.
Even in case of a spontaneous visit, please feel free to inquire using the phone number displayed at the entrance —
we do our best not to turn anyone away, and with a little patience you may still become our guest.
Our four-course Miszli market menu at the weekend changes regularly and, whenever possible,
is offered with a choice of main courses and desserts.
Cold dishes, cheese platters and cottage cheese cake are available from Thursday to Sunday until 3:00 pm.
With every meal, you may enjoy our homemade non-alcoholic drinks as well as the wines of our favourite winemakers.
For current prices, please ask Juliska.
Dog-Friendly
We are a dog-friendly place. Please note, however, that besides us there are many other animals living in the courtyard:
dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, a rabbit, turtles, a hedgehog and others.
We kindly ask you to take care of their safety and well-being, as they are also part of our family.
Important
Please inform us in advance of any food intolerances, sensitivities, or dislikes related to specific ingredients.
We are happy to provide information about allergens, dishes and our preparations.
Important 2.0
Our two “little big” sons grew up in the courtyard, therefore a swing, sandbox, playhouse, lookout tower,
toy weapons and toy vehicles are available for our guests’ children.
WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE CHILD SUPERVISION ALONGSIDE OUR DAILY TASKS.
Children may use the listed equipment, toys and structures only under parental supervision and at their own responsibility.
